Update on Copenhagen
January 2010
The outcome of the Copenhagen
Climate Change Conference was disappointing, as acknowledged by the Secretary of State for
Energy and Climate Change in his
statement to the House on 5th January.
It is now crucial that we press ahead with action to meet our domestic targets and I am
pleased Ed Miliband made reference in his speech to the need to act on the advice of the
Committee on Climate Change in its report, Meeting Carbon Budgets - the
need for a step change. The report makes a number of important
recommendations, including highlighting the need for road pricing if we are to reduce our
emissions from road transport in line with targets.
