PROUD OF BOURNVILLE AND BISHOP CHALLONER
SCHOOLS SUCCESS
Lynne Jones MP has this week congratulated Bishop Challoner Catholic School and
Bournville School and Sixth Form Centre for their success in being named as two of the
hundred most improved schools in England. This recognition is based on the sustained
improvement in GCSE results at Bishop Challoner and Bournville between 2001 - 2004.
At Bournville the number of students
gaining five or more GCSEs has increased from 40% in 2001 to 76% today. At
Bishop Challoner the figure has increased from 57% to 86%. The improvement in results
shows that Labours investment in education is making a difference and driving up
standards.
Rt Hon Ruth Kelly MP, the Secretary of State for Education and
Skills said:
I would like to congratulate both Bishop Challenor and
Bournville for their success in being in the top one hundred most improved schools in the
country. The improvement is a credit to the hard work of the pupils, parents and staff. It
is also a result of the investment this government has put into our schools.
Local MP, Lynne Jones said:
The improved results Bishop Challenor and Bournville are a
credit to the hard work of pupils, teachers and parents. I am proud that their work has
been recognised and that our young people are being given the opportunity to reach their
full potential.
Labours investment and
reform of secondary schools has produced real results for our young people. The
improvement in Bishop Challenor school and Bournville School and Sixth Form Centre shows
that with Labour our schools are getting better.
